‘Hot Bone Tea!’ Dam Hot! Good Pokeing/Farking Food!

One of my favorite pass time while in KL is eating ( Apart from chick watching! )! One of the favorite dishes KL people like to eat is ‘Hot Bone Tea’ ( direct mandarin translation ) or commonly call ‘Bak Kut Tea’( in hokkien meant ‘Meat Bone Tea’ )!

Apparently there is a very famous BKT shop somewhere in Klang ( Sorry I forgot the name of the shop! ) so my friend took me to have a taste of this dish. After driving for sometime we came to the BKT shop ( finding parking space is a problem ).

We order a big serving more then enough for two. From the pic the dish look just like any ‘hot pot’ dish. Nothing special to me, just a few pork ribs, three layer meat, leafy vegy & some other stuff! We have a plate of rice each top up with fried onion ( This is the first time I eat rice top up with onion! ).

Looking is different from eating! My the food is real hot! Before long I am sweating from eating this hot dish! Helped by the hot weather! No, we didn’t eat in air-con restaurant! I actually hate eating in air-con restaurant as I can’t smoke & the food is more expensive!

Then the bill arrived! RM65.00!!! Wah laued!!! Dam expensive! I have this before the fuel increased! If I have such dish now it will properly cost RM100.00!

Well after eating such hot food, I am all heated up! I am in heat! I have to look for way to release all my heat! I have to do some pokeing!

Giant banana! U want this or not?

Have u see a banana of this size! Previously in this entry on banana & 'nen nen' the banana shown is the nice big Sarawak banana.

Now on this entry I happen to get my hand on this giant size banana ( I am very very sure any ladies will go bananas if ur ‘banana’ is of this size! Sarawak Banana size will be more then enough for Asian ladies ). So here is how a giant banana look like ( Yeah it is RM1.20 per banana, smaller size one will be RM0.90 )!
Giant banana ‘undressed’. See big or not ( compare this banana with the banana shown in banana & 'nen nen' )? Unfortunately it cannot be eaten in its natural state as it is very sappy & don’t taste nice ( if it can be eaten ‘raw’ I will like to see how a lady eat such a big banana ).

This is how the giant banana is eaten, as deep fry banana slice know locally as ‘goreng pisang’. First u slice the banana into thin slices & coat it with flour mixed with egg then u deep fry it. Taste yummy! This fry banana is prepare by gf ( actually I ask her banana this big want or not? He! He! ).

May I Buy This ‘Nen Nen’????

Towkey! How much for this ‘nen nen’?! I want to buy some! Rm4.00 for ‘nen nen’ of this size! He! He! Nah! This is the ‘nen nen’ I am blogging about! It is actually a type of giant green orange. It is also call ‘pamelo tangerine’ but I like to call it ‘ limau nen nen’ & the seller will know I refer to this green orange. I happen to have a bunch of big banana with me so the pic taken with it, nice or not. The banana is the big type nice & soft type with a nice banana smell! Get more information on the goodness of Banana ( poke in lah u will like my entry on banana wan! ) !

This is how a ‘undress’ ‘nen nen’ look like. There are two way to ‘undress’ a ‘nen nen’, u can peel off the skin ( two types, thin skinned or thick skinned ) or u can cut it up as shown. It look just like Sunkist orange but with green skin. It is sweet if the flesh is deep yellow in colour. Pale yellowish flesh usually tasteless. Here is another view on ‘nen nen’ growing on tree. Yes I grow two ‘nen nen’ fruits tree by the side of my house. So I save on buying ‘nen nen’! Rm4.00 per kg will get u about 3 or 4 ‘nen nen’ only ( big ‘nen nen’ ).

So anyone want to buy ‘nen nen’??

I feel like a monkey………….

Why? Because I am eating ‘wild’ Logan. It is wildly grown in Papua New Genie & this giant green logan is eaten by monkey & birds there. This fruit is grow by my daddy in the my house backyard!

As shown the logan is very big the size of a ping pong ball. The flesh is thick & sweet. U can buy it in Sunday market at Rm12.00 per kg. So have any of my readers taste it before???

Reaction to Red Bomb!!!

This is the reaction to the last of the red bomb I received last months.

This cost me Rm1,600-00!! Made of 99.999 pure gold. Lucky I am not the main sponsor but I do the buying. And because all this red bomb I end up with a red meat roll and this made me go off-line for the last few days as I have to go on travel.

This wedding is between the east & the west. Or rather I should say the west 'poke' the east ( this is also the truth for the other type of 'pokeing' which is politically sensitive ). Thus I can made some comparison.

The wedding in the east take place in Sibu ( pai kia land ) in a restaurant behind Kawan Hotel while that of the west take place in the biggest resturant in Batu Pahat in Johore ( now u know why I end up stuck here ). Here is some pic taken in the wedding hall in Batu Pahat. I didn't take any wedding hall picture, appart from food in Sibu as it is 'ordinary'.

This hall is big! Can accomodate more then 100 table! And this restaurant have two such hall.

I never get to taste the cake! Just for show only?
I get to drink the champage as I have to go on stage to toast ( I represent some VIP ).

Sorry for the fuzzy pic for the food taken in Batu Pahat as I cannot take pic as I sit here on the VIP table ( I really regard sitting here as I can't take food pic, I have to waite for the men of the house to take first bite,the food is already pre-divided ie two to four pieces per person, I can't get to look at all the Batu Pahat pretty ladies & I have to eat slowly & properly so that the food don't end up on someone head ).

Ok here go the food pic. The bottom is the wedding food in the east ( Sibu ) while the top is from the west ( Batu Pahat ).

This the first dish. 'Cold dish' I think. Both side taste so so only.

This is dish 2. It is lobster meat in honeydrew bowl I think. The lobster taste super ( I am wet in the mouth but I only get to eat two pieces & it is inproper for me to eat next table potion wan ). The Sibu side is shark fins. Inside I did find shark fins.

This is dish no 3. Batu Pahat side is shark fins. I didn't find any shark fins but a lot of crap meat. For shark fins both side taste so so only. Sibu side is steam proffer. Taste OK but the meat is a bit on the 'hard' side as oversteamed.

This is dish no 4. Batu Pahat have roasted duck. The duck skin is so crispy. Taste very good. Sibu side have roasted duck & lemon chicken. Taste so so only as the duck is not crispy & the lemon chicken is too sour.

This is dish no 5. Batu Pahat offer steam proffer. Done just nice, fish is flesh & the meat is not oversteamed. Sibu offer mixed vege with abalone. Taste ok.

Dish no 6 is... Batu Pahat offer mixed vege in abalone & mushroom with meat. Taste so so. Sibu side offer assorted prawn in yam bowl. The prawn is nicelly done. Two type of prawn, one is stired fry while the other is deep fry coated with cheastnut.This dish taste yummy.

Dish no 7. Batu Pahat offer curry lamb together with bun.Curry pic on the top, bun pic in the middle. This dish really save my hungry stomach ( image only 2 to 4 pieces of food from each dishes ) luckly the fellow sitting next to me say she can't eat curry. I am more then happy to eat her potion! Yes. the curry taste nice & so is the bun ( I have 4 bun & two bowls of curry ).Sibu side offer meat wrap in flour sheet & yam cake. This dish taste yummy.

Dish no 8 is the last wan. Batu Pahat offer some sort of soup with chinese date, white mushroom & somethings else. Taste herby. No picture is taken ( as mention I ask a lady to take the food pic, she forgot the last dish & she got unsteady hand ). Sibu side offer fruits on ice. Taste so so only.

So it seem that the food serve is similar apart from the arrangement in the arrival of the dishes.There are one exception, that is curry as wedding dish.I suppose it is normal in the west but never in the east. The other is pork leg. It use to be the compousory dish but lately some wedding left out this dish. The other different is pork is not serve in west wedding feast where as in the east u can find pork in almost every dishs.

Given the choice I prefer wedding food in the east as the potion is more, even though the food arrangement is so so only ( to me good food taste good no matter how it is arranged ).

The Wedding food.........

This is the first red bomb I let off, I meant I attended, a evening wedding feast,started at 7.30pm & ended at 9.40pm. I manage to take the food picture after the rest of the table occupant allow me. The reason I gave is to show back home how nice the food is. Of couse the real reason is to let my reader have a look at the food here which I believed is different from KL.

This is the first dish. It is call 'cold dish' ( I don't know why it is call cold dish even thought it contain a few warm food ). It consist of cold jelly fish ( taste rubbery, no good ), boil prawn in mayonise, BBQ pork slices, roasted 3 layer meat,meat ball,fish ball & some vege. Lucky this first dish is a big wan as I am very hungry, sorry the pic is burr.

The second dish is shark fins. Problem is I can't find any shark fins in it everthough I stirs it several time. I can only find mainly egg, carp strips & some meat strips.

Chicken warp in aluminium foil is No3. Taste so so to me. Since it is a small chicken it is finished in no time. But the funny things is I can't find any chicken head ( I suspect the chicken is used to made chicken soup for the shark fin soup ).

No 4 dish is mixed verge in yam cake bowl. This dish taste OK to me. Maybe because I have always like yam.

No 5 is a heavy dish. Pork leg!!! In fact the whole pork leg. It don't look very tasty to me untill I open it up. Surprise!! It is boneless ( the upper part ) & it is stuff with other food like nuts mushroom etc inside. It taste OK to me not fatty. In fact I have the 'toes' & part of the leg.

No 6 is the maditory prawn. Deep fry prawn with oat. Taste so so only as the prawn is not fresh & also this dish is cold already as the fry prawn is not chrispy.

No 7 is steam fish. In this case a white puffer ( how nice a wedding feast is nomally judge by how fresh the fish is ). This is most most tasty food I tasted in this feast. The fish is fresh & taste 'sweet' & no fishy taste.

No 8 is the maditory sea cucumber dish. But the problem is I can't find any sea cucumber inside only cow ligament. Of couse sea cucumber taste better then cow ligament which taste rubbery.

The last dish is of couse the fruits dish, which consist of water melon, pineapple,orange & jelly. The melon is sweet so is the jelly. The rest all sour wan. Lucky the last dish is no a box of ice-cream.

What I don't like happen to me on this wedding. I sit next to the toilet, my table occupant consist of 3 aunties, 3 men ( including myself ) & three childrens (luckly the children behave well so no food end up on me ). So I end up eating & having small talk, no nice view or marketing.

Jack fruit & wild durian

I have jack fruits during CNY as it is very cheap. Three for RM1-00. I have 2 myself. I feel very full after that.

The fruits taste sweet with a strong smell. In fact after a while yours pee will have the smell of the fruit. You can also eat the seed after boiling its in salty water. Well jack fruit is suppose to be a 'heaty' fruit, but its have no such effect on me. After eating it, 2 in fact I am still not in 'heat'.

The next fruits I have is wild durian. Nomal durian I am sure every body knows. Wild durian is wild , u can find it in the jungle. Nomally eaten by wild animal like monkey, bat & fallen ripe fruit by wild boar. The native notice that it can be eaten also by us thus we joint our wild friend ( the monkey ) & animal in eating wild durian. The native will bring this fruit to be sold as jungle product.

The size of the fruits is quite small. ( Mine c-phone is there as comperison ). The colour of ripe fruit is from redish orange to yellow where as the meat is redish orange in colour. The fruits taste sweet.Unlike durian, wild durian have a weak smell. I have no idea if the fruit is heaty or no as I did'nt feel any effect.

CNY.....Chinese New Year...Food

To me CNY is food & holiday. ( ' hor nyday' to me as I look forward 2 a lot of hor ny activities). So below are the food I had at reunion dinner curtesy of mine partner:-

Fry mee or noodle. Taste yummy but u will fill very full if u have a plate of it, so I ate only a few mouthfull.

Deep fry prawn. If u have too much of this u have to watch out for your collestrol level. ( As for me I just have to do more 'hor ny activities' to reduce the level)

Deep fry chicken or rather roasted chicken. I have just a drumpstick as it is rather filling.

Fry yum bread. Taste so so only. Basicaly it is just sandwish with yum.

Duck merinated with 5 different spices. This is mine favourite. Taste very good.

Bony pork soup with some herb & bean curb ie ' tou hoo'.
Fry glass mee. I have no ideal what is its english name. To me it is transparent noodle. Depent on its ingredient it taste good.

Fry assort food, like crap meat, fish ball & chicken nugget.

Fry 'kiew tiew'. Sorry for the blurr picture as by now I am very hungry.

Fish fillet in lemon source. Yum yum.

Stir fry veggie like bean, cauliflower,mushroom & lady finger.

Assorted steam food like meat ball, crap fillet & fish sasauge.

Sea cucumber in egg, mushroom & some other ingrediate which I don't know. Taste very yummy, but I feel very heaty after this. ( Am I on heat??? )

The above show all the CNY food. After the dinner I am too full for any 'hor ny activities'. I can't sleep as well as by mid-night the night is fill with all sort of firework that also kill all the mood for mine night time activities.
